We’ve taken some of our most framing projects and broken them down for you!

Matchbox Project

  • -Raised top mat (linen) and artwork recessed behind

-Gold painted bevel to match frame

    -Simple, gold scoop frame

    -Conservation clear glass

  • This raised top mat technique is typically used for shedding artwork like dried flowers or pastels. However, this style still looks great with many other pieces!

Preservation Press Project

  • -Gold scooped frame

    -Canvas floated on linen matboard

-Inner sides lined with the same linen matboard

    -No glass

  • This customer wanted to “beef up” this tiny canvas to better display it in her powder room. This is a great way to add size to smaller pieces without having to use a larger frame!

Mini Canvas Project

  • -Peachy mat to keep the vintage look, adding a gold painted bevel to compliment frame

-Ornate, decorative frame in a complimentary color to the piece

    -Conservation clear glass

  • We love reviving older pieces while still keep a classic look. This project is a great example of how playing with complimentary colors (i.e. the reds and oranges alongside the teal frame) can bring life to muted, vintage artwork.

Vintage Painting, New Frame

  • -Raised top mat (white)

    -Floated over gold mat.

(Note: Artwork is floated closer to the top mat rather than recessed behind)

    -Bright, textured frame

    -Conservation clear glass

  • We went back and forth with this piece. We tried several matboard combinations, however, the pink and blues

A Pop of Color

  • -Raised top mat, bevel painted in an accent color

    -Recessed metallic mat behind matchboxes

-Black and gold frame (with enough depth to raise the top mat)

    -Conservation clear glass

  • This is a great way to emphasize small pieces or objects. Also, don’t be afraid to mix metals!
